hello loxie I spoke to you about 15 yrs or so, about a print we have of elvis, its about 3ft by 2ft, dressed in a blue jacket an blue shirt holding a microphone, at that time you told us if it had a box bar , it does in the lower left corner with number 1 on it, and your signature,a friend of ours gave it to my eife, she knew mary was a devout elvis fan,and saw him a few times, her father bought it in nasville many yrs ago when she was very young, you said it is one of three that elvis ordered for his friends, we are older now,and thinking about selling it, if possible what are your thoughts on that, and could you send us a letter confirming this, if you don't have time for this I understand. thank roger
Loxi Sibley replied:
Hi Roger, The 3 paintings were purchased by Boxcar Enterprises in 1976. High quality posters were created from the paintings and sold at Elvis' concerts, starting that year. If you have a numbered poster it is something I haven't seen. I'm not saying it didn't happen, I just never saw it. However, Col Parker did have some different types created. He was always partial to the Elvis in the dark suit with a microphone and I understand that he had a number of them framed with a plack at the bottom of the frame. That is what I was told by someone who either owned one or saw one. It's been so long that I'm not sure. Now, the posters were printed in 1976 and have been out of print now for over forty years. I know that I've been contacted many times in regards to availability and the value. They can be hard to find but I have in the past found them on EBay for different prices. I also purchased some of the less expensive ones 2myself because the seller apparently had no idea what they had. Ginger Alden mentioned me in her very popular and well written book and told me that Elvis loved my work. I would have emailed you privately but for some reason your private email address didn't show up. Only the FineArtAmerica addy which won't reply to notices sent. You might want to contact some Elvis fan clubs here and abroad to see if they might know the value of one. I hope this note finds its way to you and helps. By the way, actually I do remember you but I had no idea it's been fifteen years ago!!! God Bless, Loxi
